Granada Tonight was Granada's main evening news programme, until it was replaced in October 2001. I tend to think theses titles have a distinct American feel to them.

In October 2001, Granada decided to rebrand their news. The flagship programme reverted to a name which had been used many years earlier; Granada Reports, and with it came this new title sequence.

Welcome back to Granada Reports Weekly in 2001! And looking very similar, it's the bumper from the other side of the break.

Some really exciting (!) titles to a special Election News programme from Granada in 2001.

Late Summer 2003 saw another new look for Granada's News Output, whilst still keeping the same basic theme. Here we have the new Granada Reports sequence, complete with titles, headlines, and a dodgy switch out of widescreen at the beginning. This was to be Granada's last local look, with the corporate ITV plc rebrand coming along the following year.

As with all the new ITV plc regions, Granada adopted the new look, as well as making a few minor changes to the studio in 2004. Here are the opening titles from the first programme, and what better way to kick off a new look than with a technical fault; first we have 10 seconds of the LNN transmission testcard.

A long clip here containing the report from Granada about the ITV plc merger, and a bit of background on the new look news. It features some brief snippets of the other regions, as well as explaining what the merger actually means to viewers, at least in PR terms.

In a good display of the same co-ordination that was seen in the last relaunch of the news (which coincided with the formation of ITV plc), the sets for all the regional ITV Newsrooms across the country were tweaked once more (mostly lighting changes to make it more teal), as well as some lovely new titles being introduced, all for the network rebrand in January 2006. They still feature local imagery as before, however now an additional piece of the instrumental music is heard. This clip stems from Granada's news, and note the appearance of 'ITV' in all the region's titles now.

An evolution of the previous teal set of titles rather than a complete redesign for Granada Reports/News introduced in 2007 and designed to accommodate the move to widescreen news for the ITV regions.

A little later than the main news as part of the staggered rebrand from Teal to Yellow in the regions. On December 1st the new look arrived in the North West, just in time for the last day of analogue broadcasting in the region. The first appearances were once again during GMTV, with the afternoon bulletin showing the fairly familiar by now set of yellow titles.

And finally, onto the new look weather for Granada.

Granada Reports ditched the yellow rebrand alongside the complete ITV rebrand in January 2013, and took on a similar smartened look to the rest of the ITV News programmes. Shots of the region are now interspersed with geo co-ordinates of various North West locations.

Special continuity and regional news titles as Granada, Yorkshire and Border join together for a regional news special on the Northern Rail problems. Aired on June 11th 2018, with Tony Morris and Christine Talbot reporting live from Preston train station.
