BBC One Christmas 2021
BBC One launched their festive presentation for 2021 in the 7.40pm junction on December 4th, avoiding the trend of moving it even earlier for once. The theme this time was based around scenes featuring Shaun the Sheep, to tie in with the airing of a new special with the characters as part of the Christmas schedule that year. This was also the first year to feature the updated BBC blocks device, which had been introduced in late October 2021.

One limitation of the 2021 festive package was that the idents produced were all 'time of day' based, leaving only two idents that could be used at each section of the day. One with the Aardman characters, and a news-safe variant without any characters. This lack of variety led to the news safe ident being used by most of the other nations earlier into light entertainment programming on launch day, although network waited to use it first before the more serious 'Casualty'.
